Ancient, gilded threads gorged on high-noon sunshine, saffron’s medicinal and purported spiritual virtues have been recorded throughout the Mediterranean, East Asian, North African, and Southwestern Asian regions long before the common era. One such ancestral use, as described by a descendent of a practicing Amazigh folk magician, is as an anointment, where saffron and soot are mixed together before being applied for either protection or rituals of attraction.
Notes of: the rooty, earthen breath of fecund soil warmed by the rising sun. Red roses, saffron threads, and spikenard. Sandalwood, rosewood, and leather. A smooth, earthen fragrance with a suede feel and the discrete, sensual flush of a traditional rose attar.
The Ritual: Saffron is an ancient mood enhancer and aphrodisiac. Roll the desired amount on or around pulse-points (wrists, neckline, crook of the elbow etc) to call forth love and exude radiance. Re-application throughout the day serves as an intentional act of sensuality through scent.
