Hinoki, Chamaecyparis obtusa (Cyprès japonais), est une espèce de cyprès originaire du centre du Japon. Le bois hinoki est utilisé pour la construction de temples et de sanctuaires, et comme encens japonais traditionnel pour son arôme léger et terreux.
Il est traditionnellement utilisé pour augmenter l'activité parasympathique et réduire le stress et l'anxiété, pour ses propriétés antibactériennes, antivirales et antifongiques, et comme décongestionnant. Il est également utilisée dans les rituels de purification.
