GALBANUM ESSENTIAL OIL | Pure Plant Extract
Galbanum is a storied herb. It is one of the sacred ingredients in the Old Testament incense mixture (Exodus 30:31). A galbanum-like ferula was used to make torches in antiquity and it is with such a torch that, according to Greek mythology, Prometheus brought fire to humanity. It was referred to as the sacred “mother resin” and is highly treasured as a sacred substance by the ancient Egyptians. Both Hippocrates and Pliny refer to it as a medicine with extraordinary curative powers. It is also associated with The Fool card in Tarot.
Galbanum essential oil is distilled from the resin collected from a number of Ferula species (big umbelliferous plants, in the same family as carrot) native to Iran, Lebanon, Turkey, etc. It is a colourless to pale-yellow, mobile liquid with an intensely green, fresh-leafy odour with a dry-woody undertone of balsamic, bark-like character, a pine-like top-note, and a woody-balsamic, soft-green tenacious undertone.
It is extensively used in perfumery and is traditionally used as a stimulant, antiseptic, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory.
It blends well with hyacinth, violet, narcissus, lavender, gardenia, cinnamon, coumarin, cumin, geranium, oak moss, pine needle, fir needle, styrax.
Note: base note in perfumery
Characteristics: intense, fresh, sharp
Subsidiary notes and nuances: cut green bell peppers or green apples, coniferous, pine-like, old wood, earthy, musty

Do not ingest essential oils or apply them internally, and avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and consult a knowledgeable health practitioner before use when pregnant or breastfeeding.
