Take a deep breath, drawn up from your stomach—your sacred gut that feels and stores so much. Let your breath rise through the ivory spires of your ribcage, filling your chest, allowing your shoulders to unwind and serpentine spine to unfurl. With your chin tipped lightly toward the heavens, exhale.
You've made it through the Holidays, and crossed the threshold into a new calendar year.
You've made it through the Holidays, and crossed the threshold into a new calendar year.
There are different philosophies to entering the new year (or rather, this new year–just one of several observed). There's an undeniable call to start anew, to better ourselves, and to consider January 1st a fresh start. Conversely, there are those who counter this notion, and remind us of Mother Nature's flux; that winter is a dormant time, the precursor to springtime's rebirth.
Truth is, there isn't one way to move–no single ‘wavelength’ to adhere to in terms of whether you're starting fresh or in the middle of a process. The earth's heart beats to the rhythm of innumerable lives, each with their own sacred machinations.
Happy new day. Shape it as you see fit.

"They’re odd, unique and expensive — why niche perfumes are trending in Montreal"With talented noses on the scene, like founder & perfumer Isabelle Michaud of Monsillage, our own curated Nose Guide to Montréal, and an engaged coterie of scent-enthusiasts determined to discuss, discover, and uplift independent perfumery, the local scentscape is looking (and smelling) more exciting than ever.
CBC dropped by the LVNEA storefront and studio to chat with April Lea about the increasing desire for unique, stand-out fragrances that push the boundaries of conventional perfumery. Watch the full video here.

We've loved catching up on end-of-year fragrance reviews, retrospectives, and forecasts—there's so much poetry in the way scent is spoken of. During our new year's nose-dive, we pulled up a recent episode of the podcast An Aromatic Life, hosted by Frauke Galia.
Fifth Anniversary: Reflecting on the Sense of Smell is a succulent, slice-of-life style episode that takes us back to the foundational question, what does the sense of smell mean to you?
Frauke prompts her recent guests to reflect on their own unique relationship with scent and how formative olfactory experiences shaped their world. We found renewed inspiration in these reflections, and we hope you do too. Listen here.

Can you make this resolution with us? As you move through the week, carve out extra time to care for your mind and body. Draw others near and find inspiration in each-other's presence. Dream vividly, and picture life bursting from the seeds you've begun to nurture. Inhale the perfume of their fruition, following the scented trail toward your desires.
